Coverification solution takes SystemC onboard

A Celoxica product story

Celoxica has incorporated support for SystemC language cosimulation in its Nexus-PDK coverification solution.

Celoxica has incorporated support for SystemC language cosimulation in its Nexus-PDK coverification solution.

This addition broadens the alternatives for customers using Celoxica's DK suite of system design tools by allowing the use of SystemC descriptions for functional system definition and design exploration, along with other higher-level languages (HLLs) such as C, C++, and Handel-C.

The higher levels of abstraction represented by these languages are enabling the next wave of EDA design productivity, improving time to market and quality of design.

By supporting multiple language descriptions, Celoxica is opening system-level design approaches to a wider audience by reducing the risk of adoption.

As part of this strategy, Celoxica is joining the Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) as an Associate Member.

"It's very clear that customers are demanding more alternatives in the way they can exploit higher levels of design abstraction", said Jeff Jussel, VP of Marketing for Celoxica.

"As a provider of system design solutions, we are joining OSCI to help further the adoption of system-level design as the next generation of EDA.

We are delighted to contribute to an organisation that fosters cooperation and interoperability towards this end".

"By helping to focus effort and debate we believe that OSCI is a catalyst for progress and change in the electronic design community", said Kevin Kranen, President of OSCI.

"We are pleased to welcome Celoxica to the organisation and look forward to their contributions as we continue to build the critical mass of opinion for the industry".

Membership in OSCI marks a new phase of solution development by Celoxica.

The company's DK design suite drives optimised compilation of system descriptions from the Handel-C language directly to FPGA hardware, or to RTL representations in VHDL or Verilog.

With this announcement the Celoxica tools now also provide cosimulation with SystemC descriptions.

The Nexus-PDK solution, the codesign and coverification portion of Celoxica's DK design suite, provides cycle-accurate simulation of systems comprised of any combination of C, C++, Handel-C and SystemC models.

The Nexus-PDK product also performs cosimulation of these system HLL models with popular software ISS and hardware RTL simulators to drive a common system partitioning and verification strategy from functional definition through to implementation.

"Celoxica's tools have helped Xilinx customers to get from concept to reality in a faster time", said Dave Bennett, Xilinx Vice President of Software Development.

"The addition of SystemC to the mix makes the process even more valuable by providing a path to implementation from another emerging system description language".

SystemC model cosimulation is available immediately for Celoxica customers in the Nexus-PDK coverification product.
