Package furthers software-compiled system design
Celoxica describes the DK Design Suite version 2.0 as the most comprehensive tool environment for software-compiled system design.
Celoxica describes the DK Design Suite version 2.0 as the most comprehensive tool environment for software-compiled system design.
Adding new coverification features and codesign device support, the premier product for compiling C-based descriptions into FPGA logic and HDLs now provides the most productive environment for the design of field programmable systems on chips (FPSoCs) such as Altera Excalibur and Xilinx Virtex II Pro with ARM, Microblaze, NIOS, and PowerPC processors.
To complete the solution, Celoxica also offers new boards for rapid prototyping, augmented design consulting and training capabilities.
Containing both software-driven microprocessors and millions of gates of logic, FPSoC devices are ideally suited for software-compiled system design, a methodology that drives design, verification and implementation of electronic systems using C-based languages.
The DK Design Suite version 2.0 delivers this methodology for FPSoC.
New codesign device support builds on a stepwise approach to hardware/software partitioning allowing the system designer to rapidly perform multiple iterations to find an optimal design prior to implementation.
Newly extended coverification features enable system modelling during all phases of the design against test benches derived from the original specification.
The latest DK version also improves the direct path for system compilation into FPGA logic and into RTL languages, dramatically improving both the design quality and time to market for FPSoC design.
"In EDA today, the biggest productivity gains are to be had by solving issues at the system level.
We believe software-compiled system design will become increasingly significant because it addresses incompatibilities that exist between hardware and software design methodologies", said Jeff Jussel, Vice President of Marketing at Celoxica.
"This version of the DK Design Suite provides a greater return on design tools investment by minimising the time and cost of system partitioning and coverification.
It is the most comprehensive and capable product on the market for FPSoC development, maximising a system designer's ability to achieve a better quality of design faster".
The DK Design Suite is used by companies worldwide to provide system design productivity through the use of higher-level languages.
The tool includes the Celoxica Data Streaming Manager (DSM) technology to ease partitioning through abstraction of the bus interface between processors and hardware.
The DK Design Suite also includes the Nexus-PDK coverification tool for cosimulation of hardware and software, and the Platform Abstraction Layer (PAL) technology for making code transportable between target hardware platforms.
The DK Design Suite Version 2.0 will be available in general release beginning in April 2003.
Pricing for the DK Design Suite begins at US $35,000 and is available in both term and perpetual licensing configurations.
The software supports computing platforms with Windows NT4, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
A broad range of design services, application methodology consulting, and ready-made FPGA prototyping boards are also available in support of the DK Design Suite and the software-compiled system design methodology.
