CFG has announced mass production of E-Look, its first automotive LCD product to be sold under its own name.

CFG has announced mass production of E-Look, its first automotive LCD product to be sold under its own name.

First exhibited at Electronica 2000 in Munich last November, the E-Look monitor is a full graphics 3.7in FSTN monochrome LCD with a resolution of 120 x 64pixel.

The monitor is mounted on a stylish swivel stand and equipped with a wide range of functions such as a photosensor for automatic adjustment of backlighting, a temperature sensor for automatic contrast adjustment and an infra-red sensor for user interactivity.

"With the growing use of GPS systems and telematics for fleet management and other applications, we saw a need for a low-cost display product adapted to the requirements of these applications", said William Leo, CFG's marketing director.

"With our experience in automobile displays, we designed E-Look to meet the environmental requirements of the industry and also addressed specific ergonomic problems, such as angle of view, adjustment of contrast, etc., all of which ultimately affect driving security.

Builders of navigation, telematic and other car systems will save costly development time and effort with this user friendly platform".

The E-Look monitor is available both as a standard or OEM unit.

The standard unit features a vibration-free swivel stand which allows easy one-hand mounting or removal of the monitor, a double red and green LED backlight array which can be mixed by the user to obtain intermediate colours and an integrated microcontroller to manage display functions and commands.

Communication with E-Look is made through a standard RS232 interface or an optional RS485 interface.

For applications requiring user interactivity, a separate infra-red remote control unit is also available.
