The integrated PC/SC smart card reader located on the top of the keyboard saves space and also enables the user to perform a single-handed card insertion, while keeping the card in plain view.

Cherry Electrical Products has introduced the G83-6644 keyboard with an integrated PC/SC smart card reader.

The cost-effective keyboard allows users to integrate smart card technology into applications in the emergency services, educational, banking, transportation, office/data entry, manufacturing, field services, POS/POT and kiosk sectors.

The G83-6644 has a 105-position full QWERTY key layout with Windows Vista keys.

Cherry's Keyman Software allows for individual and easy key assignment.

The integrated PC/SC smart card reader located on the top of the keyboard saves space and also enables the user to perform a single-handed card insertion, while keeping the card in plain view.

The numeric pad can be switched into Secure PIN Entry mode for enhanced system log-on security.

Operating systems include Windows 98, ME, 200, XP, XP 64Bit, CE, Linux, Mac OS X and Vista.

The G83-6644 keyboard is offered in black and light grey and comes standard with a USB 2.0 interface and cable.

Comments Robin Bithrey, Technical Sales Support Engineer at Cherry UK: "Professional users need a neat, user-friendly, cost-effective solution to the issue of system security".

"The G83-6644 range provides the protection they need in a compact package with no extra cables".
