Chomerics has expanded its family of robotically dispensed Cho-Form EMI gaskets with two new high-performance, easily compressed conductive elastomer materials that simplify the shielding of mobile phones, PC cards and other high-volume electronic applications using metal or plastic enclosures.

Featuring shielding effectiveness in excess of 100dB from 200MHz to 10GHz, Cho-Form 5526 material combines the industry's lowest possible surface contact electrical resistance with high adhesion strength and good compressibility and compression recovery.

The material is particularly suited to high-performance grounding applications and designs with semiconductive surfaces.

Cho-Form 5528 material provides ultra-soft, low closure force gaskets that combine shielding effectiveness of 80-100dB from 200MHz to 10GHz, with excellent electrical and mechanical properties.

Both new materials are designed for use with a wide range of dispensing machines, including the dedicated Chomerics Cho-Form automated EMI gasket system, which allows dispensing of precisely positioned, conformable gaskets in very small cross-sections with high adhesion levels.

The system is ideal for metal and plastic housings and can handle complex gasket geometries.

It provides space savings of up to 60% by applying gaskets to flanges as narrow as 0.50mm.

Featuring a silicone base resin, Cho-Form 5526 and 5528 materials have conductive fillers of silver and silver/copper respectively.

Typical adhesion for both materials is in excess of 12N/cm2.

The new materials are rated for temperatures of up to 85C.
