Gaskets protect D-sub connectors
Chomerics has expanded its Soft-Shield 4000 series of foil over foam EMI gaskets with the addition of a new line designed for use with D-subminiature connectors.
Chomerics has expanded its Soft-Shield 4000 series of foil over foam EMI gaskets with the addition of a new line designed for use with D-subminiature connectors Available as standard die-cut parts to suit connector sizes ranging from 9 to 50 pins, these economical, commercial-grade gaskets can be specified with thicknesses of 1.2, 1.7 or 2.3mm according to the requirements of the application

Designed for EMI-sensitive applications, the latest low-profile heat spreaders from Chomerics provide a simple and effective method of cooling semiconductors.
Soft-Shield 4000 gaskets are constructed by machine wrapping a fabric-reinforced aluminium foil around a closed cell urethane foam core, resulting in a tough yet conformable material.
Five Soft-Shield 4000 materials give designers compression-deflection performance choices to suit the closure forces in their specific application.
Compression set for all materials is less than 20%.
The fabric reinforced foil covering of Soft-Shield 4000 material has no sharp edges or loose conductive fibres.
The gaskets' excellent mechanical characteristics and low surface resistivity, ensure that good contact is achieved between mating surfaces, resulting in EMI attenuation of more than 90dB between 10MHz and 1GHz.
There is no significant degradation in this shielding performance after 10,000 compression cycles.
All five materials are supplied with an electrically conductive, pressure sensitive adhesive applied to one side.
This allows accurate positioning of the gasket without compromising shielding performance.
Maximum operating temperature for the Soft-Shield 4000 range is 70C, and the materials can be selected with either UL94V0 or UL94HB flammability ratings.
