The forthcoming release of AutoVue from Cimmetry Systems has been expanded to include many new EDA features These include the ability to verify designs for manufacturability, cross-probe 3D PCBs and create and save user-defined layer sets

AutoVue 18 will be released this month.

New features include Verify Design, allowing the user to test for manufacturability or design violations (pad/trace/component clearances, drill hole size, via counts, net width/length, short circuits, unrouted nets, empty nets, unconnected pins etc) by setting multiple tolerances/constraints.

The user can export the detected violations or save them to a PLM or QA system using AutoVue's APIs.

Users can also cross-probe between a PCB layout or schematic and the 3D PCB.

For example, select a component in a layout or schematic and it is located and highlighted in the 3D model or vice-versa.

Other new features include: the ability to combine 3D PCBs with mechanical parts to create a digital mockup; the facility to define and save custom layer sets (views) or access those predefined in the design file; and the ability to filter by entity type, for example turn entities on/off by type, such as pins, vias, nets or components.

New EDA formats supported in AutoVue 18 cater for: Mentor Expedition PCB and Design Capture 2002; and Orcad Layout and Capture Version 10.

Several other EDA formats have been added since AutoVue 17.1 and were released in service packs to customers under maintenance, including: Cadence Allegro 15, Cadence Concept HDL 14 and 15, Cadence SPECcTRA 14, 15, HP IFF 3.0, PADS PowerPCB 4.0, PADS PowerLogic 4.0 and 5.0, Protel PCB/Schematics, 98, 99, 99SE etc.

Many new features and formats aimed at the 3D mechanical and A/E/C markets have also been added to AutoVue 18.

"With the release of AutoVue 18 Cimmetry reinforces its commitment to the EDA market by delivering significant new functionality and format support", said Pam Petropoulos, Marketing Manager at Cimmetry.

"As the only native viewer for electronic, mechanical, and 2D product data on the market, AutoVue is a truly unique offering".

"These new features place AutoVue in a class of its own and enable users in design, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing to collaborate in entirely new ways".

AutoVue 18 adds support for many new formats.

All new features and formats are available in both the desktop and client-server editions of AutoVue and integrate seamlessly with PLM, ERP, EDM or document management systems.

AutoVue allows users to view, markup and collaborate in real-time on over 450 native formats from a common user interface.

Available in both Desktop and Client-Server Editions, the product allows users to access and provide feedback on critical product data, regardless of format, either locally or over a network/Internet.

The AutoVue API is also available to OEM partners wishing to add visualisation, markup, DMU and real-time collaboration capabilities to their products.

To download a fully functional evaluation version, try an online demo, or schedule a real-time collaboration meeting using AutoVue, visit the Cimmetry website.
