New revision of XTX specification released
Rev 1.1 of the XTX specification, which defines the control of flat-panel displays using LVDS channels, is compiled into a single document, which includes some detailed enhancements.
The XTX Consortium has released the XTX specification Rev 1.1, compiled into a single document, which includes some detailed enhancements.
XTX defines the control of flat-panel displays using LVDS channels.
In contrast to previous Computer-On-Module standards, XTX offers the possibility of unified software interfaces in order to enable a higher level of compatibility.
With this possibility, XTX Modules from multiple vendors can be exchanged easily, providing complete flexibility when it comes to replacing a flat-panel display with one from a different manufacturer.
This vendor independent 'Plug-and-Display' feature is new to the embedded computer industry.
"We ensure that customers who invest in XTX will profit from long term security", says Gerhard Edi, CTO of Congatec AG.
"The XTX standard provides seamless interchangeability between different manufacturers".
"This was the main target when developing the 1.1 revision".
This latest revision of the XTX specification includes the complete definition of all signals, the mechanical description and the results from the comprehensive PCI Express signal path simulation.
Backwards compatibility with ETX is still maintained.
All ETX applications not using the ISA bus can easily be switched to XTX.
Additionally, there is an addendum to the XTX Specification that defines the alternative usage of these pins for making use of a TTL display interface.
Two additional signals have been defined and implemented to enhance ACPI battery management possibilities.
The latest revision of the XTX Specification can now be downloaded from the XTX website.
This site also includes more detailed information and reference design schematics.
XTX is an open standard that is freely available and not subject to any licence fees.
All members of the XTX Consortium have been granted the right to use the XTX brand name and logo without any restrictions.
