Tact switches are small and reliable

A C+K Components product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Dec 3, 2007

KMT tact switches have been designed to meet the twin demands of miniaturisation and ultrahigh reliability.

New from C+K Components, KMT series tact switches are claimed to be industry's smallest and lowest profile top-actuated devices with an integrated actuator (push plate).

KMT series switches also feature a 50% longer operational life than comparable products.

With extended application lifetime of 150,000 operations, gold and silver plating options and superior tactile feel, the KMT switch measure just 2.6 x 3.0 x 0.65mm, 0.45mm body height with 0.20mm actuator height and 0.13mm travel.

An integrated actuator for simpler button design provides an excellent tactile ratio of 30% minimum, giving sharp feedback.

KMT also has a grounding pin option for ESD protection and actuation force options of 1.6N (tactile ratio 30%) for mobile devices and 1.0N (tactile ratio 10%) for hearing aids and headsets.

According to Gary Mountford, C+K's Sales and Marketing Director: "C+K Components is committed to providing its customers with leading edge technology that exceeds their expectations".

"KMT tact switches have been designed to meet the twin demands of miniaturisation and ultrahigh reliability".
