Enclosures protect against shocks

A Clare Instruments product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 2, 2007

The risk of an electric shock during product testing is completely eliminated with the latest range of test fixtures and enclosures from electrical safety testing specialist Clare Instruments.

Clare Instruments has released test fixtures and enclosures that eliminate the risk of an electric shock during product testing.

The range enables the operator to carry out the safe and controlled electrical testing of a wide range of products within the production and laboratory environment, complying with the requirements of EN 50191 - Erection and Operation of Electrical Test Equipment.

The enclosures also meet guidelines laid down by the HSE in INDG354 - Safety in Electrical Testing at Working (which follows closely the EN50191 standard).

Power-operated products can be placed within the sealed and protective environment of the enclosure for electrical testing.

This avoids direct contact between the product under test and the operator, eliminating the risk of an electric shock.

Clare's enclosures can also be used for the multiple testing of products using the latest internal switching automation technology, reducing production test cycle time and improving product quality.

Conductive foam nests can also be safely incorporated for testing Class II double insulated products.

Manufactured from durable-hard-wearing aluminium extruded parts, the enclosures incorporate impact-resistant clear plastic panels, dual safety door switches and facilities for the safe discharge of DC hipot/flash/di-electric post testing.

Optional integral test connection automation, pass/fail stamping and destructive test fail are available to maximise test throughput, and to enable the system to cycle without direct operator input.

Clare enclosures come in sizes from 400 x 400 x 400mm to 2000 x 1000 x 1000mm..

Dual door safety interlock switches terminated with 2m lead and three pole plugs are supplied as standard.

Custom sizing and automation services are also available on request.
