Data management system controls Cadence
libraries
Students will use the SOS viaDFII design data management (DM) system to version control and manage Cadence Virtuoso libraries and to easily collaborate with other team members.
ClioSoft has donated 50 licences of SOS viaDFII to the University of Virginia (UVa) School of Engineering and Applied Science's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for educational purposes ClioSoft software is tightly integrated with the Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform that students use to design analogue, RF and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs)

Students will use the SOS viaDFII design data management (DM) system to version control and manage Cadence Virtuoso libraries and to easily collaborate with other team members.
"We wanted to find a way to help our students easily manage their IC design projects and collaborate with one another on team projects", said Dr Ben Calhoun, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UVa's Engineering School "Our search for a well-integrated design management system for the Cadence IC flow led us to ClioSoft".
"We found their data management system to be very closely integrated with Cadence and very easy to set up and use, which was important because we want to focus student efforts on IC design and not on learning tools".

"Additionally, ClioSoft has been very responsive and provided us licences, training and support just as if we are one of their corporate customers".
SOS viaDFII provides design data management (DM) and multi-site collaboration support for the Cadence IC platform.
Because Cadence IC design tools are seamlessly integrated with the SOS Data Collaboration Platform, project teams are able to access SOS features directly from the Cadence IC flow.
Designers can work with logical design units such as libraries, cells, and views without thinking about the co-managed set of physical files that make up these logical design units.
SOS viaDFII's design-aware integration supports DM operations for an entire design hierarchy or for a category of cells.
For instance, you can check out all the cell views in a design hierarchy or tag all the cells in a category.
"It's always a pleasure to help the upcoming generation of design engineers", says Srinath Anantharaman, CEO of ClioSoft.
"We're happy to have been able to provide both the SOS tools and our live online support and training services to Professor Calhoun's students".
"In the corporate world, designs are done by teams that are often large and distributed".
"Using our DM tools will help students learn good methodology and collaborative design practices, which will prepare them for the real world".
