On show for the first time in the UK at Nepcon will be the Essemtec FLX2020 SMT pick and place machine and the SP200AV fine-pitch printer.

Contax will display two new Essemtec systems at Nepcon UK 2006 On show for the first time in the UK is the FLX2020 SMT pick and place machine and the SP200AV part of a range of fine-pitch printers

Both machines are ideally suited to small and medium sized manufacturers who require high performance and functionality combined with excellent machine build quality.

The FLX2020 offers the ultimate in flexibility with a wide range of feeders, high production speeds and zero downtime during changeover.

A two module system, it is ideally suited to high mix SMT production.

Each module can work independently, or in combination with the other, so enabling simultaneous assembly of two different products, or a single high speed line.

The system also offers the opportunity for expansion, with the addition of a further module.

The FLX2020 is a highly intelligent system offering a high 200 feeder capacity, whilst its precision drive technology enables the placement of a variety of components.

These range from: 0201 and 50 x 50mm fine-pitch down to 0.3mm, BGA, MicroBGA and flip chips.

For total accuracy of placement, the FLX2020 relies on a combination of laser and vision centring systems.

The integrated feeder management system automatically recognises the feeders and pickup height, and LEDs display feeder status and notify the operator if a minimum quantity is reached.

The unique feeder setup control system is based on barcode identification, so preventing the risk of setup failure and guaranteeing correct placement.

Available in three models, the SP200 is a range of semi-automatic fine-pitch printers for high quality screen/stencil printing.

Designed to handle small to medium sized batches, the SP200 offers the highest levels of accuracy so making it ideal for lead-free production.

All the SP200 are easy to use.

The print process parameters can be programmed into the system, so ensuring that the printing results are exactly reproducible.

Up to 100 printing programs can be stored, including different parallel lifting speeds; squeegee speeds, pressure and movement range and printing type.

For greater precision, the screen or stencil is aligned to the substrate only in the final printing position, and automatic squeegee pressure regulation during printing ensures that pressures are continuously monitored throughout the print process.

The SP200 systems also offer an expandable side drawer for fast loading and unloading of the substrate, whilst other features include programmable vertical separation after print, and a universal fixing for single or double sided substrates.

The models in the range include the SP200V which offers a semi automatic screen-assisted vision positioning system, the SP200-AV which provides automatic alignment of stencil to substrate pads and the SP500-AVC which is supplied complete with a pass through conveyor.

"These new Essemtec machines provide the highest specifications and accuracy for small to mid-sized manufacturers", said Mike Rapson, Managing Director at Contax .

"Essemtec has a well-deserved reputation for quality, and the FLX2020 and SP200 further demonstrate the excellence of their products".

"Both are superb, reliable systems that will certainly offer a sound return on investment", he said.
