Magnetics module shrinks Gigabit Ethernet ports
New from Tyco Electronics is the model GB4xxx-LP single-port Gigabit Ethernet magnetics module from CoEv Magnetics.
The SMT devices feature toroidal cores in a convenient surface-mount package.
The unique header design provides quick and efficient installation by incorporating a new wire-clamping feature that lowers the time required in the manufacturing process.
CoEv Magnetics now offers nine series of SMPS inductors, coupled inductors, and common mode chokes which help minimise circuit board real estate requirements in power supplies, telecommunications equipment, computers, and cable modems.
They are also suitable for 150 and 260kHz National Semiconductor SimpleSwitcher applications.
"The SMT series of power magnetics provide the benefits of a toroidal design in a user-friendly surface-mount form factor", said Terry VanConant, Power Magnetics Product Manager for CoEv Magnetics.
"These devices allow the end user to quickly and efficiently place the devices onto circuit boards, reducing the total installed cost of magnetic components", he added.
