The USB Tracker 110 is a compact, low-cost, nonintrusive USB analyser designed to support the development of USB devices and related software USB is becoming more and more popular as a way of interfacing embedded systems to PCs

However, its protocols are complex, and an analyser greatly simplifies debugging both the hardware and the application.

To date, USB analysers have cost around GBP 4000, but the new USB Tracker 110 sells for little more than GBP 500: a price level that makes it feasible to purchase one for every engineer working on the project.

The USB Tracker 110 can be used to analyse the operation of an existing device, searching for incompatibility and measuring the performance of a driver or piece of equipment.

It displays the packets sent, decodes the descriptors according to the USB specification, detects bus errors created by peripherals or drivers and provides a measure of overall performance.

The new instrument features an ergonomically designed user interface that presents the data collected in a clear and precise way.

It is the ideal companion for anyone developing USB peripherals, embedded software or drivers.

Its analysis and display software allows the user to quickly learn all about USB.

It can be connected between a personal computer or a laptop and any USB peripheral to provide an instant record of the traffic.

The packets are displayed in time order together with the peripheral's address and the endpoint number.

A second window provides details of the selected items data.

To make it easier to identify particular packets, the software provides colour-coding functions and extensive user-selected filtering.

It also gives the user the choice of several levels of detail, and the information taken from the bus is referenced to the USB specification, giving a full text description of hub requests.

The USB Tracker 110 can carry out USB low-speed (1.5Mbit/s), full-speed (12Mbit/s) or mixed-speed capture, automatically detecting the speed.

Unlimited capture time is provided through a high-speed USB 2.0 connection to the host PC, and power is taken from the USB.

It is available from the Computer Solutions online web shop at a price of GBP 520 (Eur 780).
