The STMicroelectronics CMG/MCDT Compilation and Simulation Expertise Centre has adopted LISATek's platform for embedded processor and SoC design.

The STMicroelectronics CMG/MCDT Compilation and Simulation Expertise Centre has adopted LISATek's platform for embedded processor and SoC design The centre develops advanced DSP/VLIW C and C++ embedded compilers for the CMG ST200 family of processors and also contributes quantitative studies and processor expert feedback to CMG ST200 architects and designers

"LISATek tools were successfully evaluated on the ST220 processor and have proven to fit MCDT Compilation and Simulation Expertise Centre needs.

They include the ability to generate very fast JIT-CC simulators to run large industrial C and C++ compiler validation suites, tool flexibility and observability for enabling rapid architecture, memory system and ISA exploration", says Centre Director Christian Bertin.

"In addition, LISATek's tools are delivered with open interfaces and APIs (ELF, Dwarf, GDI) which allows MCDT to easily customise the generated tools".

LISATek's platform answers a critical need in the marketplace today, improving design productivity and quality for state-of-the-art EPs, including microcontrollers, DSPs, ASIPs and multiprocessors, resulting in shortening the design process for EPs and simplifying integration.

LISATek reckons its tools revolutionise the way embedded processors and SoCs are designed.

By providing automation for synthesising architecture models and generating software tools, Edge, Rim and Hub offer a unified and complete platform for custom specific EP design and verification.

Edge, LISATek's processor designer, automatically generates the entire toolset needed during the architecture exploration and design phase.

Rim Software Designer - one of two sets of automatically generated tools - is used to develop software for embedded applications.

Completing the offering is the Hub System Integrator with tools enabling the integration and verification of EPs in the SoC environment.

The technology is based on a single description language, LISA 2.0 (Language for Instruction Set Architecture), which is an extension to C/C++.

The entire tool suite offers a complete solution in a unified Environment.
