Compact chip LED is a little blue
A new low-cost blue surface mount chip LED from Kingbright comes in the world's smallest 0402 style package.
A new low-cost blue surface mount chip LED from Kingbright comes in the world's smallest 0402 style package.
The new blue chip LED complements Kingbright's 0402 range that includes orange, yellow, green and super-bright red indicators with typical light outputs of 140mcd at 20mA.
The new GaN LED chip offers the luxury of blue indication in applications at a fraction of the cost of traditional blue SMD devices.
Measuring just 1.0 x 0.5mm and less than 0.5mm thick, the LEDs feature a water-clear lens with viewing angle of 120 degrees and are ideal for use in a wide range of applications including backlighting and indication in lightweight, portable instrumentation and telecommunication devices.
Besides the new GaN blue version, Kingbright's 0402 packaged LEDs are available in the full spectrum of colour (430 to 700nm) and brightness (AllnGaP to InGaN technology).
Depending on colour, specifications include power dissipation from 75 to 170mW, DC forward current of 30mA, peak forward current from 150 to 195mA, reverse voltage of 5V and operating temperature range from -40 to +85C.
The 0402 style LEDs are capable of withstanding reflow soldering temperatures up to 230C for up to 10s and 140 to 160C for up to 120s.
All Kingbright 0402 style chip LEDs are supplied on tape and reel in quantities of 2000 pieces.
