The Interphase 4531, available in the UK from Crellon Microsystems, allows system integrators to access the ATM backbone without requiring an external CSU/DSU.

The Interphase 4531, available in the UK from Crellon Microsystems, allows system integrators to access the ATM backbone without requiring an external CSU/DSU The 4531 is an embedded ATM over T3/E3 communications controller that directly maps ATM cells onto T3/E3 lines, supporting full duplex back to back cell transfer

Support for ATM services includes constant bit rate (CBR), unspecified bit rate (UBR), available bit rate (ABR), AAL0 and AAL5.

As an off the shelf I/O solution compatible with VME, CompactPCI and proprietary bus platforms, the 4531 shortens time to market for WAN applications in telecommunications and Internet access.

These include L2 and L3 switches for hub or central office deployment, routers, servers, gateways, web servers, remote access servers, DSLAMs (DSL access multiplexers), VOIP gateways and DSL gateways.

The 4531 supports ATM framing for direct cell mapping, and PLCP sublayer processing for both T3 and E3.

The 4531 communications controller is built using (i)chip+ ASIC technology developed by Interphase in the USA.

It joins products ranging from ATM passives to other high performance, carrier-class controllers supporting many leading operating systems and WAN protocols.

The company has exceeded 100 man-years of ATM development time and has received international awards for its ATM products.
