Onboard modules boost single-slot VME flexibility

A new single slot VME card from Crellon Microsystems has six module positions and extensive built-in features, allowing developers to achieve a custom configuration while reducing the number of cards required for system integration.

The North Atlantic Industries VME-64C1 delivers high performance and high functional density.

Available functional modules target DSP applications, and include 10-channel A/D and D/A modules, digital and discrete I/O modules with 16 bidirectional channels each, four-channel LVDT-to-digital and RVDT-to-digital modules, four-channel synchro-to-digital, and six-channel platinum resistance temperature monitoring.

A four-output frequency generator module is also available, and a four-channel resolver-to-digital module is available to special order.

The VME-64C1 also features an additional slot for an AC reference oscillator.

Additional benefits include self-calibration, low power consumption, user-programmable parameters, field selectable geographical addressing, and selectable front panel and/or P0/P2 connections.

The card is also resistant to damage from signals applied before power-up.

The diagnostics capability features automatic built-in test (BIT), which continually monitors each channel and is transparent to the user.

Failures are immediately reported and the specific channel identified, without requiring the unit to be shut down for troubleshooting.

BIT is always enabled, requires no external programming, and can be disabled on a per-channel basis if required.

The VME-64C1 is available in two temperature ranges (0 to 70 or -40 to +85C) in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions.
