Crellon Microsystems has two versions of the SBS Technologies CP6-GIGSW8 family of eight-port nonblocking Layer-2 unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches.

The CP6 family provides eight-port non-blocking Layer-2 Ethernet switching at gigabit speeds.

The 6U CompactPCI boards support up to two four-port physical interface units, with an easy-to-customise interface configuration.

Media options include eight copper, eight fibre or four copper and four fibre ports.

The CP6-GIGSW8-C1, compatible with all 6U CompactPCI buses, is designed with connect and go functionality and does not require host CPU drivers, connecting only to the power and PCI reset signals.

It is operating system independent and fully hot swappable with an onboard microprocessor configuring and controlling the switch registers.

Changing the interface configuration is simple.

Just extract the board from the running system, change the physical interface module, plug the board back in and continue running.

Even the wavelength on fibre-optic interfaces can be changed without disrupting the system.

The CP6-GIGSW8-P1 has a 32bit, 33/66MHz PCI interface and is designed for use in custom application development platforms.

Allowing complete access to its configuration and control registers, end users can implement their own protocols as well as develop custom Layer-2 and 3 line rate switching and Layer-4 to 7 filtering and classification.
