The universal 78CI is a flexible six-module multifunction single-slot CompactPCI card from North Atlantic Industries.

The 78C1 eliminates the complexity and size constraints of using multiple, independent, specialised, single function cards.

The "motherboard" has six independent module slots each of which can be populated with a function specific module.

The 78C1 cPCI card can include the following channels: 10 A/Ds, 10 D/As, four signal generators, 16 digital I/Os, 16 discrete I/Os, four synchro resolvers, four LVDT/RVDT and six RTD channels.

Extensive diagnostics are provided by the interchangeable multifunction design of the 78C1 which is available in both commercial (0 to +70C) and severe environmental military (-40 to +85C) temperature ranges.

This means that the board is ideally suited for airborne, shipboard, ground mobile and C3I applications.

With more than 17 modules to date, increased flexibility is provided by each of the 78C1 functions being highly programmable at the channel level.

Totally transparent to the user, background (BIT) testing is performed on all functions and channels continuously.

This testing requires no programming and does not interfere with the card's normal operation.
