New from Acal Microsystems is the Adlink ETX-IV266 computer on module (COM) which, based on the popular ETX form factor, offers a very short time to market The off the shelf modular concept of core modules combined with custom made carrier boards can reduce the development periods by as much as four times

Built around either the ultra low voltage, 400/650MHz Mobile Intel Celeron or the low voltage, 800/933MHz Mobile Intel Pentium lll-M in a uFCBGA package, it has a 200-pin onboard SODIMM socket that supports high speed DDR266 type memory modules, accommodating up to 1Gbyte.

The board's CLE266 chipset incorporates an S3 UniChrome AGP x8 graphics controller with hardware MPEG-2 decoding.

The controller supports CRT displays up to 24bit dual channel LVDS flat panels and TV-out for Pal/NTSC making it ideally suited for DVD playback and video streaming applications.

With four USB v2.0 ports, a 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, an EIDE controller supporting both PIO and UDMA modes, two serial ports, one parallel port (SPP/ECP/EPP) shared with FDD, one PS2 keyboard/mouse interface, an audio interface with codec and power management functionality, it is surprising that the board measures only 95 x 114mm.

Designed with minimal power consumption and heat dissipation in mind, the ETX-IV266 can enjoy fanless operation when using the Celeron ULV type processors.
