VMEbus carrier takes IP modules onboard
A novel 6U nonintelligent slave board interfaces IP modules with the VMEbus.
Acal Microsystems has added a novel 6U nonintelligent slave board that interfaces IP modules with the VMEbus to its extensive range of products The AVME9668 is a full-height 6U carrier board that holds four IP modules each of which are accessed through front panel mounted SCSI-2 connectors with either screw down or spring latch connectors facilitating rugged, high performance applications

Embedded controller allows direct access to ATM
The Interphase 4531, available in the UK from Crellon Microsystems, allows system integrators to access the ATM backbone without requiring an external CSU/DSU.
Support for 8 and 32MHz clocks make it ideal for applications requiring high speed processing and secure connections which need to withstand shock and vibration.
Provision for full data access to the IP modules' I/Os, IDs and memory spaces (8Mbyte for each module) makes software configuration and control of the IP modules both convenient and easy.
Optimum filtering between IP modules and carrier board is achieved by passive filters and fuses on power supply lines to each module (+5, +12 and -12V DC).
There is support for two interrupt channels for each IP module and there is full access to the programmable registers which means that the user can configure and control the operation of the IP modules from the VMEbus.
The VMEbus interrupt level is software programmable.
