PCI-based media gateway stands alone

An Acal Microsystems product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jul 19, 2005

The TrunkPack (TP)-260/SIP is billed as a stand-alone "media gateway on a board".

Acal Microsystems has a new PCI VoIP board from AudioCodes.

This "media gateway on a board" known as the TrunkPack (TP)-260/SIP is, as the part number suggests, Session Initiation Protocol compliant.

Reliant on the host computer only for power, this stand-alone PCI media gateway operates otherwise as a completely independent unit, communicating to applications via SIP using the onboard Ethernet interface via SIP.

Nondependency on host drivers and operating systems allows seamless connection to existing PSTN based systems to support VoIP.

The TP-260/SIP provides 30, 60, 120 and 240 channels of independent, simultaneous VoIP calls supporting voice, fax and data ports, an impressive variety of voice compression coders and echo cancellation - G.168-2002 compliant 32 and 64 echo tail (128ms tail with reduced channel capacity) and scales up to eight E1/T1/J1 spans in a single slot, making it a practical gateway solution for enterprise applications and carrier locations.

A wide range of PSTN signalling protocol terminations, multiple tone detection and generation and real-time fax over IP/T.38 all go to make this a truly innovative stand alone media gateway board.
