More speed for embedded machine engines

The latest additions to the Adlink GEME series of general embedded machine engines offer speed improvements while maintaining the advantages of low voltage operation and a fanless heat spreader.

The latest additions to the Adlink GEME series of general embedded machine engines offer speed improvements while maintaining the advantages of low voltage operation and the fanless heat spreader of their predecessors.

The GEME units boast multiple CPU choices with the GEME-4000 housing an Intel Ultra Low Voltage Celeron M processor (1.0GHz) and GEME-5000 offering the Intel Low Voltage Pentium M processor up to 1.4GHz.

Able to run continuously and be remotely controlled in many applications, some of which can be critical (machine tool and digital video capture for example), the GEME-4000 and GEME-5000 support the latest chipsets, are protected against vibration, are compact and have front access for removable HDDs, CompactFlash, USB 2.0, IEEE1394, LAN, keyboard and mouse, VGA and more.

Variations of GEME offer either hardware MPEG4 or real-time video platforms for NTSC or Pal.

The on-die advanced transfer cache (ATC) provides up to 2Mbyte, and an onboard SO-DIMM socket accommodates up to 1Gbyte of DDR333 system memory and 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet.

Other features include enhanced IDE incorporating a bus master IDE controller, EIDE interfaces for up to two devices, support for PIO Mode 3/4 or Ultra DMA/100IDE devices including the hard disc drive, ATAPI CD-ROM, LS120 and ZIP drives.

There is an internal AC power supply, and both machines also support DC power supplies for mobile or in vehicle use.

These highly reliable machines are built with expandable architecture features allowing the use of optional communication, motion and I/O modules in both PMC and PC104 form factors.

Additionally, the GEME-5000 offers a unique feature that allows designers to implement an embedded machine in vision applications using Adlink card products.

All normal operating systems are supported.
