Maclellan has held other executive positions at Nortel, including Vice President of Nortel's Calgary operations - responsible for 2800 employees, and a multi-billion dollar revenue base that virtually doubled during his tenure.
He has strong wireless experience, having been responsible for Nortel's base station manufacturing activities for TDMA and CDMA technologies, having worked with the Nortel GSM team in France, and most recently, having led the operations activities for the introduction of UMTS.
His Calgary team was also responsible for manufacturing Nortel's fixed wireless products, as well as its point-to-multipoint broadband wireless offering.
Maclellan developed a strong track record at Nortel in quality management and in rapidly increasing new product manufacturing to meet significant customer deployment needs.
He has been trained in ISO, Six Sigma and Malcolm Baldrige quality elements, and was responsible for significant improvements in both in-process and in-service defect rates for several Nortel product lines.
In bringing new products to market, Maclellan was responsible for the successful launch and volume ramp-up of several key wireless products including Nortel's CDMA basestation products and the latest generations of Nortel's TDMA radio platforms.
He also has solid international experience, having successfully led Nortel's efforts to establish wireless manufacturing capabilities in its China joint-venture, and having led a successful Nortel drive to begin manufacturing operations in Brasil.
