New from CTL Components is a medium-voltage cable jointing kit that uses a combination of heatshrink technology and two-part polyurethane resin to provide complete protection against the ingress of moisture even in locations with a high water table.
Known as Heatshrink+Resin, the new kit includes heatshrink tubing for insulating core conductors and also features a sealed two-part resin system that provides a clean, convenient and reliable method for mixing the resin compound.
Predetermined quantities of resin and hardener are supplied in hermetically sealed plastic pouches, and mixing is carried out without any risk of skin contact.
In addition, the kit contains a clear outer shell for easy inspection of the joint, a choice of shear-bolt or compression ferrules for the core connections, and earth continuity components such as constant-force springs and a strong aluminium wrap-around cage with rubber spacers to ensure correct positioning.
All components are supplied in a single sturdy box for ease of use in the field.
Ideal for cable jointing applications in the electricity supply industry, the Heatshrink+Resin kit complies with the requirements of the DIN VDE 0278 Pt 629-1 and Cenelec HD 629.1S1 standards.
Six versions of the kit are available, covering polymeric, paper or transition joints for three-core cable sizes ranging from 35 to 300mm2.
