Manufacturer expands bare chip assembly
Custom Interconnect has extended its bare chip assembly capability for both chip on board (COB) and multichip module (MCM) fabrication.
This dramatically reduces set up time and running costs making it ideal for production runs of all sizes.
John Boston, Managing Director of CIL said: "There are only 15 flying board testers of this type in the country and we are probably the only small- to medium-sized contract manufacturer with this type of facility.
The advantage to our customers is considerable.
It costs between GBP 10,000 and GBP 25,000 to set up a 'bed of nails' or 'pin board' test fixture and this is normally only practical for large production quantities.
We can now offer full test facilities for small production runs and prototype quantities and this is extremely valuable in today's market where product design is more volatile and board life is much shorter than before".
