Wave soldering expansion is Blundell's
hundredth
New machine complements existing selective soldering machines that have provided CIL with lead-free capability for the past four years.
Andover-based Custom Interconnect has installed a lead-free-compatible Blundell CMS 400 wave soldering machine that is the 100th to be supplied in the UK The new machine complements the existing selective soldering machines that have provided CIL with lead-free capability for the past four years

Manufacturer expands bare chip assembly
Custom Interconnect has extended its bare chip assembly capability for both chip on board (COB) and multichip module (MCM) fabrication.
Paul Blundell, Managing Director of machine manufacturer, Blundell Production Equipment, comments: "Since last year's RoHS legislation, there has been a boom in sales of new wave soldering machines".
"The UK manufactured CMS 400 has clearly established itself as the UK leader and the lead free version has been selling very well over the past two years, as more and more PCB assemblers convert their soldering process to lead free".
CIL Managing Director, John Boston, adds: "We still run a lead wave solder process and will do so for the foreseeable future as a number of our customers are RoHS exempt".
"However, due to our recent rapid growth and the fact that most new customers require lead free wave soldering we decided to install a new machine to increase our lead-free capacity".
"When considering a new machine, the name of Blundell consistently came up as it's now established as the industry standard".
"We therefore installed a Blundell CMS 400 and we are delighted with the results".
