Nonvolatile memory readied for National process

National Semiconductor is working with Cavendish Kinetics to qualify its Nanomech embedded nonvolatile memory technology for National's key analogue and mixed signal processes.
Cavendish Kinetics offers an innovative technology that has significantly higher performance, lower power and lower cost using a standard CMOS process implementation that replaces conventional nonvolatile memory.
"The excellent operating characteristics of Cavendish Kinetics' novel embedded nonvolatile memory make it a key addition to our technology portfolio".

Cavendish Kinetic's Nanomech technology allows simple incorporation into the metal system (BEOL) of standard CMOS and other processes, using standard equipment and materials.
Since it works at native voltage, it does not require any of the high voltage circuitry normally associated with nonvolatile memory, thus saving silicon area and power.
The nature of the device makes it ultralow power, with only capacitive power for write and erase and minute power for the read cycle.
