Software expands test pod functions
A new generation of software tool modules for the USBee LX digital test pod include a frequency generator, a pulse counter, a two-wire serial controller and an asynchronous serial controller.
A new generation of software tool modules for the USBee LX digital test pod include frequency generator, pulse counter, two-wire serial controller, asynchronous serial controller and asynchronous serial monitor.
These releases round out the complete set of PC based software modules that turn the USBee LX digital test pod into the various digital test equipment functions.
The USBee LX frequency generator module allows the pod to generate digital square waves at a number of standard frequencies used in many of today's embedded applications.
The USBee LX based pulse counter module independently counts the number of edges on each of the eight digital inputs.
The USBee LX two-wire serial controller module is a fully featured control system that allows users to create and generate bus transactions to any two-wire serial device.
The USBee LX acts as the bus master and, running from user-built scripts, will generate all of the necessary clocking and data.
The USBee LX digital test pod serial controller and serial monitor modules create a full duplex digital asynchronous serial port using the LX signal lines.
Previously released modules for the USBee LX digital test pod include logic analyser, signal generator, data logger, frequency counter, and remote controller functions, all in one compact and easy to use USB-based pod.
Also included is the USBee LX Tool Builder software that allows the creation of custom test tools using Visual Basic or C++.
"These new software modules for the USBee LX give engineers and hobbyists even greater control and visibility into digital designs", states Tim Harvey, CWAV's Chief Technical Officer, "making the USBee LX a required piece of lab equipment for anyone doing embedded systems".
The new software releases will run on any current USBee LX Digital Test Pod, and can be downloaded for free at from the CWAV website.
These modules will also run in demonstration mode with no USBee LX pod attached to the PC.
The USBee LX can be purchased directly from from the site, and quantity and educational discounts are available.
