Cyan Technology has selected FSI Distributors to provide on-demand customer delivery of the evaluation board and samples for eCOG1, its high-performance low-power 16-bit Flash microcontroller boasting a wide variety of communications peripherals.

The eCOG1 evaluation board - one of the most comprehensive in the industry - is available at an introductory price of $299 and comes with a complete set of free development tools.

The eCOG1 evaluation board is a simple, easy-to-learn platform for developing and testing applications as well as in-system Flash programming for the eCOG1 microcontroller in a completely customisable environment.

A complete set of hardware features such as a 16-character x 2-line alphanumeric LCD, 8Mbyte SDRAM, serial EEPROM, 10/100BaseT Ethernet, three RS232 SPIs, three UARTs, four-colour LEDs, potentiometers for the ADCs, piezoelectric speaker, debug connector, access to the on-chip temperature sensor, a prototyping area, and more.

A 32.768kHz watch crystal provides the low-power clock, while a 5MHz crystal provides the high speed clock, providing a 25MHz internal system clock from the on-chip PLL.

Boasting a large C library and complete integration with all eCOG1 tools, the eCOG1 compiler supports mixed C and assembly programming along with source-level debugging using the simulator and emulator debug interface.

Thanks to on-chip MMU and cache, the eCOG1 real-time eCOG1 emulator can provide up to 512 breakpoints, enabling developers to halt the processor and examine the core status, significantly easing the debug process.
