Software configures MCU peripherals

A Cyan Technology product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 25, 2004

The CyanIDE suite of software development tools includes a revolutionary configuration tool that allows a microcontroller's peripherals to be easily configured to suit different applications.

CyanIDE is a free suite of software development tools, including a revolutionary configuration tool that allows a Cyan microcontroller's peripherals to be easily configured to suit different applications.

Cyan's integrated development environment supports the company's range of current and future microcontrollers, allowing engineers to develop, configure, build, and test microcontroller applications all from a single PC based environment, It is even possible to debug code within the same nonintrusive real-time debug environment.

An integrated HTML viewer provides a uniform environment for editing C source code and viewing help files on device data, compiler and tools.

The configuration tool assigns device pinout selection for the most efficient use of on-chip peripherals.

Simple to use, the tool intelligently generates the required code to set up peripherals and communications options.

The choices are made by simple point-and-click actions and then the code is generated automatically.

A graphical representation of the device allows engineers to see the configuration of the internal peripherals as they are used.

The system provides help with each peripheral as it is configured.

Paul Barwick, Cyan's Director of Sales and Marketing says: "This unique tool allows the microcontroller to be configured in hours rather than days, eliminating the usual barrier inherent in evaluating new microcontrollers and therefore significantly reducing design time".

The CyanIDE toolkit is also supplied with a full ANSI C compiler.

A CyanIDE demonstration and the full CyanIDE toolset can be downloaded free of charge from the Cyan website.
