Development kit boosts comms applications
Cyan Technology is now offering an evaluation board and free software development tools for its first product, the eCOG1 communications engine.
Together with the company's innovative CyanIDE development and configuration software suite, the device is ideally suited to new generation communications applications.
Launched by the management of 2001, m2m is a new technology distributor that will concentrate on component manufacturers who are able to offer UK customers new innovative solutions through advanced technology.
Cyan technology is the first line to be signed to m2m.
Neil Dodson, m2m Business Manager, enthusiastically endorsed the decision to partner with Cyan.
"When m2m was in the planning stage we knew that it was essential to start with some key products", says Dodson.
"Cyan's 16bit processors aimed at TCP/IP, RTOS and Java applications are 'right on the button' - and the new Cyanide integrated development software allows users to develop, configure, build, test and debug microcontroller applications from a single environment, dramatically reducing costs and time to market".
Roy Greer, MD of 2001 and m2m is also very positive.
"In the past 2 years we at 2001 have been very successful - and being part of an advanced European group of distributors has enabled us to engage with the key manufacturers of semiconductors", says Greer.
"m2m is the natural extension of our progress and promises to be a very interesting venture as we build an extremely strong line card".
"When we concluded the deal with Cyan", he added, "we decided that this would be the right partner with which to launch the new operation".
Paul Barwick, Cyan's Director of Sales and Marketing, said: "Strong distribution partners like m2m will help us to develop and support the potentially huge markets in applications areas like wireless CCTV, EPOS, asset tracking and low cost PDA".
"Our eCOG1 microcontroller is now attracting a lot of interest for new designs in a number of these key market segments".
