Laser navigation sensor takes MCU onboard
SoC combines Cypress's patented OptiCheck technology with a programmable CPU, USB interface and a highly configurable power management unit.
WirelessUSB LR employs direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technology to avoid signal interference from other technologies in the 2.4GHz band like 802.11b, Bluetooth, and wireless emissions from both cordless phones and microwave ovens and features -95dBm receive sensitivity ensuring a strong omnidirectional signal at 50m and beyond.
Featuring a highly integrated radio transceiver plus digital baseband, WirelessUSB LR is a single-chip solution that enables designers to significantly reduce development time, component count and system cost.
The device is also noted for its very low standby power consumption.
It has a standby current of approximately 0.25uA and up to 0dBm output power, which translates into years of battery life for a typical sensor/actuator.
In addition, WirelessUSB LR features a data transmission rate of up to 62.5Kbit/s with an average latency below 10ms.
Cypress's WirelessUSB LR is offered in three configurations.
A 48-pin QFN-packaged device, priced starting at $2.93 in 50,000-unit quantities is in production for commercial applications today.
An industrial temperature tested version of the product is available for sampling today, and priced starting at $3.93 in volume quantities.
The device is also offered in a 28-pin SOIC package starting at $3.70 in volume quantities.
Both industrial devices will be available in production by mid 2004.
