Top performance NSEs have dual LA-1 Interfaces
Cypress Semiconductor has begun sampling its Ayama 20000 family of network search engines (NSEs).
Cypress Semiconductor has begun sampling its Ayama 20000 family of network search engines (NSEs).
The Ayama 20000 family of NSEs interfaces gluelessly with the Network Processing Forum (NPF)-approved LA-1 specification, supporting commercial network processors (NPUs) including Intel's IXP2400, IXP2800 and IXP2850, and AMCC's nP3700.
It is the only product on the market to cascade TCAM-based and algorithmic solutions making it the most complete search solution for achieving the highest performance at the lowest cost in IPV6 applications.
The Ayama 20000 family is available in 9 and 18Mbit densities and features industry-leading performance of 266 million searches per second.
The Ayama 20000 NSE increases NPU headroom by minimising the transactions on the LA-1 bus, allowing designers to achieve line-rate performance with commercial NPUs.
Key Capture logic enables designers to reuse portions of the search key, conserving LA-1 bandwidth.
The Associative Data Manager (ADM) optimises SRAM capacity by removing empty address space caused by wide entries particularly for IPV6.
The Ayama 20000 incorporates the ability to clamshell two quad-datarate (QDR) SRAMs on the flip side of the printed circuit board, reducing board size and simplifying routing complexity.
"The Ayama 20000 provides our customers with best-in-class performance, an innovative feature set and the flexibility to build highly competitive search subsystems targeted for IPV6 applications", said Mark Ross, Chief Technology Technical Officer of Cypress Semiconductor.
"With a reference design kit that includes development boards, Cynapse applications programming interface (API), data plane macros for standard NPUs, Verilog, IBIS and BSDL models, and a complete set of application notes, designers have everything they need to get to market quickly".
Cypress's search solution includes a comprehensive portfolio of products to address all segments of the search market.
In addition to its highly successful TCAM-based solutions (Ayama 10000 and Ayama 20000 NSEs), Cypress is the only vendor to also offer an algorithmic SRAM-based forwarding search engine (Sahasra 50000) to address the search needs of systems requiring large forwarding tables of more than 1 million table entries.
The Ayama 20000 NSEs are the first of their kind to offer a FastLink cascaded interface; a heterogeneous interface for optimised search subsystems which when combined with Cypress's easy-to-use Cynapse software enables seamless interworking of Cypress NSE families, including both TCAM-based NSEs and algorithmic-based NSEs.
Cypress's comprehensive NSE portfolio has been adopted by leading vendors in the router, L2/L3 switch, CMTS, DSLAM and storage area network (SAN) segments.
The Ayama 20000 NSE samples are available now in a 1152-pin FCBGA package.
