Cable equalisers suit professional video
Cypress Semiconductor has released two new multirate video cable equalisers for the professional video market.
Cypress Semiconductor has released two new multirate video cable equalisers for the professional video market The new devices complement Cypress's HOTLink-On-Demand family of high-speed video serdes (as well as other serdes), offering an easy-to-implement complete port solution in professional video equipment designs, including production switchers, distribution amplifiers, D/A convertors, and camera control units

Nonvolatile SRAMs expand to 8Mbit
New 2 and 8Mbit nvSRAMs feature access times as low as 20ns, infinite read, write and recall cycles, and 20-year data retention.
Design tool bridges high and low levels
Integrated design environment includes both code-free and high-level-language programming modes in one package.
The CYV15G0102 delivers standard definition (SD) signals over greater than 400m and high-definition (HD) signals over greater than 200m.
These specifications compare to the industry-standard distance range of 100m for HD and 300m for SD signals.
The CYV15G0101 equaliser is guaranteed to drive equalised SD signals over 300m of coaxial cable, and HD signals over 100m.

Wireless device extends remote control
Rosie remotes use robust Cypress wireless technology to overcome limitations of infra-red, including line of sight requirements and range of less than 10m.
Laser navigation sensor takes MCU onboard
SoC combines Cypress's patented OptiCheck technology with a programmable CPU, USB interface and a highly configurable power management unit.
In addition, the CYV15G0101/2 devices offer a power savings of 40% over competing solutions, typically an important feature in video systems requiring multiple input SDI links such as production switchers and video routers.
"Cypress's new equalisers offer the industry's best performance along with a standard pinout that eases the design process", said Erin Kettwig, Product Manager for Cypress physical layer devices.
"Cypress is interested in helping our customers extend the distances between their systems without additional design effort".
"In conjunction with the HOTLink-On-Demand family of video serdes and YLink products, we now offer video equipment designers an economical, robust suite of products for next-generation systems".
The CYV15G0101/2 are compliant with the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 292M, 344M and 259M datarates.
The devices are pin-compatible with existing solutions, giving users an easy migration path without board redesign.
The superior eye diagram characteristics of the CYV15G0101/2 allow for more forgiving board design, such as longer trace lengths and other less-than-optimal board conditions.
The new devices also support launch amplitudes from 500mV to 1.2V at HD rates, allowing equalisation to be independent of the transmitter launch amplitude.
This independence offers more system design flexibility and can support system and network anomalies without failure to equalise the data.
The CYV15G0101/2 are offered in lead-free 16-pin SOIC packages.
Pricing in 1000-unit quantities is $51 each for the CYV15G0101 and $66 each for the CYV15G0102.
Samples of the new devices will be available later this month, with full production availability slated for Q1 of 2006.
