Nonvolatile SRAMs expand to 8Mbit
New 2 and 8Mbit nvSRAMs feature access times as low as 20ns, infinite read, write and recall cycles, and 20-year data retention.
Design tool bridges high and low levels
Integrated design environment includes both code-free and high-level-language programming modes in one package.
The single-chip PRoC LP, which is now in full production, integrates the robust WirelessUSB LP 2.4GHz transceiver with the award-winning Encore II 8bit reprogrammable Flash microcontroller (MCU).
The CY4672 RDK, which features Cypress's AgileHID protocol for best-in-class interference immunity, includes a compact wireless mouse, a feature-rich wireless keyboard, and a small form-factor bridge.
To further streamline the development process, it also offers kit documentation, hardware schematics, bill of materials, development tools, and flexible firmware for customisation.
Manufacturers can easily copy the reference designs exactly, and only need to add enclosures to produce ready-to-ship devices.
The designs also take advantage of Cypress's patented Kissbind buttonless-bind technology - a simple and intuitive method that allows a peripheral to bind to a nearby bridge without pressing a dedicated bind button on either device.
"Not only do our customers benefit from PRoC LP's integrated programmable MCU and robust WirelessUSB radio, but the CY4672 RDK also delivers precertified references of full-featured wireless keyboards, mice, and dongles to further slash time to market", says Matt Branda, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Cypress's Human Interface Device (HID) Business Unit.
In addition, the PRoC LP RDK features firmware and hardware support for Microsoft Windows HotStart (Direct Application Launch), a new feature in Vista for launching applications directly from system startup through button presses from input devices.
The CY4672 PRoC LP RDK includes all of the following items: Mouse - Three-button, ergonomic mouse with ADNS 3040 low-power optical sensor; Keyboard - 101 keys with buttons to support multimedia and shortcut keys; Bridge/Dongle - Simple and small form-factor bridge; and CD-ROM - Provides kit documentation, hardware schematics, bills of materials, development tools, tutorials, and firmware for Wireless Keyboard and Mouse development.
