Development kit aids quick design implementation
Cypress Semiconductor's new development kit provides a hardware implementation that uses a single component to condition the PIR sensor signal and control the sensor system.
Designers of PIR motion sensing systems can quickly implement new designs using fewer components, and at lower cost with a new development kit from Cypress Semiconductor.
The new development kit provides a hardware implementation that uses a single component - the CY8C27443 PSoC mixed-signal programmable array - to condition the PIR sensor signal and control the sensor system.
The kit includes all the design files for the hardware, as well as a copy of Cypress' PSoC Designer design tool.
By following the example implementation included on the kit's CD, the designer can quickly implement a circuit that eliminates multiple fixed-function discrete analogue and mixed-signal components with a single PSoC device.
A typical PIR motion detection system today requires the designer to bolt together a string of analogue components, and hook them up to a separate controller.
With Cypress' new kit, designers can quickly build the system with little more than the PIR sensor and a PSoC on the board, saving time, space and money.
The PIR Motion Detection Evaluation Kit contains all of the hardware and software necessary to implement motion detection applications using a PIR motion sensor intelligently controlled by one Cypress PSoC device-the CY8C27443.
Contents of the kit include the PIR motion sensor circuit board, a 12V power supply, a PSoC Designer integrated development environment (IDE) software CD, and a design files CD with schematics, BOM, Gerber files, and a PSoC Designer example project.
The PIR Motion Detection Kit addresses applications such as automatic lighting controls, automatic door openers, security systems, kiosk wake-up and activating wireless cameras.
Cypress is also releasing a new I2C Port Expander Lite Evaluation Kit.
The I2C Port Expander Lite Evaluation Kit contains all of the hardware and software necessary to implement I2C bus I/O expansion, system management and front panel control in one Cypress PSoC I2C Port Expander device-the CY8C9520.
The kit contains an I2C expander demo board, a USB cable, documentation and a design files CD.
The I2C Port Expander Lite Evaluation Kit addresses applications that include PCs, servers, personal gaming consoles and storage and networking equipment.
"We are fond of saying, 'PSoC is Everywhere,' and these kits highlight the flexibility and ubiquity of the PSoC architecture", said Scott Harmel, Vice President of Marketing for Cypress' PSoC products.
"Users can expect to see many other innovative solutions as we discover new applications that PSoC enables".
