Designed to run from a single 5V power supply, the CPU-C3VE from DSL meets PC/104-Plus standards for full IBM-AT and PCI compatibility.
Credit-card-sized PC
According to Datasound Laboratories, with its credit-card-sized package, the smartModule is the perfect choice for OEMs seeking high performance in the smallest of footprints.
Based on the innovative PC/480 standard, which combines all signals, common interfaces, ISA and PCI bus on a single bus, the module is integrated in the system via two connectors with a total of 480 contacts.
As the PC/480 bus is also the technology interface, the application is independent of the development of the PC architecture, meaning that future smartModules will be mechanically, electrically and functionally compatible when added to the system.
The SMGXPC has compact dimensions of 66 x 85mm, in a flat, low-profile design.
It works at a clock frequency up to 300MHz, and has a large main memory, which can be fitted individually with SODIMM components from 16 to 128Mbyte SDRAM on module.
Also integrated are two USB interfaces and an optional LAN interface (82559ER).
The standard version also includes interfaces for two hard disks, floppy disk, keyboard, mouse, printer and TTL ports at COM1 and COM2.
The low power consumption of the SMGXPC allows it to operate without active cooling.
Powerful graphics capabilities include the integrated graphics unit of the Geode processor and the SMGXPC is equipped with 1Mbyte video RAM and an 18bit VGA LCD interface offering resolutions of up to 1280 x 1024 with 256 colours.
Other features include a watchdog, advanced power-management functions, a connection for an external RTC battery, EEPROM support up to 1024byte, and AC97 compatible audio functions.
The SMGXPC runs under Windows 98/CE/2000, Linux, QNX and RTXDOS.
Designed for low power consumption, it can be operated in the standard temperature range of -25 to +60C.
Applications include navigation, telecommunications, computer periphery, medical and measurement technologies, the aerospace industry, automotive electronics and Internet terminals.
