Designed to run from a single 5V power supply, the CPU-C3VE from DSL meets PC/104-Plus standards for full IBM-AT and PCI compatibility.
Credit-card-sized PC
According to Datasound Laboratories, with its credit-card-sized package, the smartModule is the perfect choice for OEMs seeking high performance in the smallest of footprints.
Currently available in two versions, the PC30 model is based on a 700MHz Celeron processor and has a 128Kbyte L2 cache and 128Mbyte memory.
Also integrated are two PS/2 interfaces for keyboard and mouse, two USB interfaces, and ports for printer, COM1 and COM2 and a 2.5in hard disk with a capacity of 20Gbyte and a CD drive.
Additional peripheral devices and mass storage media such as digital camera, CD-RW and DVD-RW can be connected via Firewire IEEE1394.
Additionally, the PC offers a 100/10Base-T (RJ45) LAN interface.
The Microspace PC also supports an optional smartcard reader that provides protection for booting and data access using the latest ISO7816 smartcards.
For displays, the Microspace PC supports an analogue or LCD SVGA monitor via VGA connector, or a CRT via TV-Out on the rear.
It provides an optional LVDS port with a serial interface for special applications like digital LCDs with touch screen.
The appropriate video BIOS (VGA, TV, LVDS) for the port used is loaded automatically.
The PC can be operated in the temperature range of +5 to +35C.
The PC31 has a 700MHz Pentium-III processor, 256Kbyte L2 cache, 256Mbyte memory, DVD drive and ISDN interface.
Designed for continuous operation, the computer will be booted once and never switched off after that.
Power consumption is typically 40W, which is only about a quarter of the energy consumption of a standard desktop PC.
A power-saving mode for periods of inactivity reduces the power consumption to 5W.
Another feature of the PC is the built-in overheating protection, which prevents the CPU from overheating above +70C.
With its light weight of 2kg, compact dimensions and high functionality, the Microspace PC is an ideal solution for applications in rugged or dust-sensitive industrial environments.
The competitively priced PC can also be used to provide Internet access, DVD and pay-per-view via a smartcard reader for hotel-room TVs.
