Datasound launches low-power SBC

A Datasound Laboratories product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 29, 2009

Datasound Laboratories has released the low-power ICOP-6354 SBC, which provides 800MHz of fanless processing capability.

It is designed for situations where high operational performance is compromised by complicated or expensive thermal management systems.

Using the Vortex86DX CPU from DMandP, the ICOP-6354 provides four serial ports, one of which is configurable as RS232/422/485, two USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 LAN port and 16 lines of general-purpose I/O.

In addition to the onboard 4-Mbyte SPI Flash, an enhanced IDE port supports conventional and Flash drives up to 4 Gbytes.

This is all achieved with a single-rail 5V DC supply running at a modest 740mA.

Interconnection is simplified through the use of colour-coded connectors, and for application development, drivers are supplied for DOS with BSPs for Linux, Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE 6.0.

Graphics resolution up to 1,280 x 1,024 is supported through the XGI Volari Z9s chipset, providing CRT and TFT/LVDS options, and a range of plug-in expansion opportunities are possible through the PC/104 and optional PC/104+ interfaces.

The RoHS-compliant ICOP-6354 incorporates a fully programmable watchdog timer (30.5 to 512s), has a standard operational temperature range of -20C to +70C with wider range options up to -40C to +85C, and an eight-year guaranteed availability.
