Datel's new DMS-PS-CM series of AC/DC instrumentation power supplies are ideal for driving modern transducers, digital panel meters, operational amplifiers and data-acquisition components in complex, multiple-instrument applications.

DMS-PS-CMs accept universal AC inputs (85-264V AC at 47-63Hz) and deliver +5, +12 and/or 24V DC outputs from single, dual or triple-output configurations.

They feature impressively low output noise (40mV peak-peak on the main output, 8mV peak-peak on the auxiliary outputs) and high levels of I/O isolation.

A modern, high frequency, switching regulator is used on the main output to provide full-load efficiencies as high as 80% for single-output models.

The high-current main output is isolated from the AC line by a minimum 3kV AC.

For dual and triple-output models, the lower current auxiliary 5V outputs are isolated from the main output by 1kV DC, effectively providing double isolation from the AC line.

This unprecedented level of isolation not only increases fault tolerance, it easily eliminates ground loop problems in multiple-instrument applications.

The additional isolation and the extremely low noise on the auxiliary outputs (8mV peak-peak) are achieved by using a second DC/DC convertor, a low-drop-out (LDO) linear regulator and onboard capacitive filtering on each output.

The DMS-PS-CM's cascaded design approach maintains impressive efficiency.

Additionally, for optimal energy savings, users can select the 5, 10 or 16W model that best matches their load requirement.

Designers no longer have to specify a 25W AC/DC power supply to drive a 4W load.

These high efficiency power supplies can significantly reduce long term electricity costs.

In typical intermittent-use applications, the 5W DMS-PS-CM's no-load power dissipation is less than 1W.

DMS-PS-CM power supplies feature built-in line fuses and onboard "power on" LED indicators.

Under full load conditions, hold-up time with a nominal 120V AC input is 20ms, rising to 80ms at 230V AC.

All outputs provide continuous short-circuit protection, and the high-current main output also provides output overvoltage protection.

DMS-PS-CM series power supplies employ pre-assembled, epoxy-encapsulated power modules that are attached to a rugged, vibration-resistant, chassis-mount package.

All input and output connections are made via heavy-duty, shock-resistant terminal blocks.

Designed for demanding industrial applications, all models deliver full rated power at ambient operating temperatures from 0 to +50C without supplement airflow.

With 50% linear derating, the range is wide -25 to +70C.
