Ericsson Mobile Platforms has entered into a licensing agreement with Discretix for latest release of its CryptoCell security product.

Ericsson Mobile Platforms has entered into a licensing agreement with Discretix for latest release of its CryptoCell security product.

This agreement, the second licensing agreement between the companies, further builds on the successful implementation of an earlier version of CryptoCell, which is commercially deployed in existing platforms from Ericsson Mobile Platforms.

Discretix, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for mobile devices, smart cards and mass storage cards, has licensed Ericsson Mobile Platforms its 4th generation CryptoCell product which includes cryptographic hardware and software modules to be integrated into Ericsson's new handset platform design.

CryptoCell is a set of building blocks for device and network security.

It is an enabling technology for emerging revenue generating mobile applications such as digital rights management (DRM), over the air device management (trusted software upgrades and extensions), VPN client, secure data storage, and commerce.

CryptoCell is also used as a mechanism for preventing IMEI reprogramming, enabling handsets to be reliably disabled thus eliminating a major driver of handset theft and billing fraud.

"Discretix's leading-edge technology combined with the market's growing need to enable new secure applications, are the driving forces behind this agreement", said Gal Salomon, Discretix' CEO.

"Our continuing long-term partnership with Ericsson Mobile Platforms, an undoubted industry leader, is important to us.

We are committed to providing cutting-edge solutions to the market and having Ericsson as a recurring customer is evidence of the trust and value placed in our solutions".
