Discretix has started work with Texas Instruments to develop security solutions for wireless platforms.

Discretix has started work with Texas Instruments to develop security solutions for wireless platforms The collaboration with Discretix is part of TI's overall strategy to address growing security concerns among service providers, consumers and wireless OEMs

Increasingly, service providers are demanding that terminal suppliers manufacture mobile phones with strong International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) protection and the implementation of SIMlock.

As phone theft has become a growing industry problem, secure information store and protecting a phone's identity has become even more critical.

TI is leading the market in addressing this need with a silicon-based security solution.

Applying its understanding of the embedded environment and the resource limitations of mobile devices, Discretix will develop security protocols, infrastructure software and applications for TI's OMAP platform and family of TCS chipsets.

Based on Discretix's field-proven CryptoCell technology, these software components will provide a secure environment in which TI's silicon-based security solution can operate, and extend that capability to security protocols and applications.

Discretix is a leading provider of embedded security solutions for mobile devices, smart cards and mass storage cards.

Discretix's CryptoCell technology, currently in its fourth release, is a set of building blocks for device and network security.

CryptoCell is an enabling technology for emerging revenue-generating mobile applications such as digital rights management (DRM), over the air device management (trusted software upgrades and extensions), VPN, secure data storage, and mobile commerce.

CryptoCell is also used as a mechanism for preventing IMEI reprogramming, enabling handsets to be reliably disabled, thus eliminating a major driver of handset theft and billing fraud.

"Discretix has a solid track record for delivering state-of-the-art embedded security solutions.

We see TI's co-operation with Discretix as a logical step in extending the capability of the TI OMAP platform and family of TCS chipsets to offer the type of security solutions demanded by the market", said Paul Werp, Worldwide Marketing Director for TI's OMAP Platform.

Commenting on the collaboration with TI, Gal Salomon, CEO of Discretix said: "Security is a key enabler for many new applications, and our co-operation with TI is a further step in bringing robust security solutions to all stakeholders in the mobile market".
