Tookit provides DRM V2.0 compliant protection

A Discretix Technologies product story

Discretix has released its Digital Rights Management (DRM) Toolkit.

Discretix has released its Digital Rights Management (DRM) Toolkit.

The DRM toolkit features a modular design that allows handset manufacturers, platform vendors and application providers to integrate Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) DRM V2.0 compliant protection into the security solution implemented on their devices.

OMA DRM Specification V2.0 relies very heavily on the underlying security capability of the device.

It will be the first mass deployment of PKI infrastructure, with device private keys, in the mobile environment.

The Discretix DRM Toolkit is fully interoperable with Discretix hardware based embedded security solutions - CryptoCell and CryptoFlash.

Together, these solutions provide the underlying security framework required to address concerns of content owners, while remaining transparent to the end-user.

The DRM Toolkit is designed to work with both 3rd party hardware and software based cryptographic libraries.

"Content providers will only distribute their premium content with watertight protection, and OMA DRM V2.0 coupled with embedded security provides that security", said Edo Ganot, VP Marketing and Business Development.

"Discretix DRM toolkit shows what can be achieved by the use of effective underlying security, embedded in mobile chipsets, and is a natural extension of the Discretix's CryptoCell solution".

The DRM Toolkit is currently available on the Symbian operating system, and will later be released on other popular mobile operating systems such as embedded Linux, Windows Mobile, OSE, Nucleus and PalmSource.
