DDC has released updated versions of its DataMARS and DataSIMS software packages for use with its range of ARINC and MIL-STD-1553 terminals and interface cards for avionics monitoring and simulation.

DDC has released updated versions of its DataMARS and DataSIMS software packages for use with its range of ARINC and MIL-STD-1553 terminals and interface cards for avionics monitoring and simulation MIL-STD-1553 is the standard military aircraft two-wire databus, and ARINC-429 is the serial databus used on most civil aircraft

The packages will enable avionics systems engineers and equipment developers to save time and have access to more accurate information.

Originally developed by the Israeli company Ampol, DataMARS is a PC-based professional analysis system that provides a complete environment for acquisition, display and storage of real-time data and well as post analysis of stored data and report generation.

DataMARS works under MS-Windows and supports PCMCIA technology, thereby enabling installation on notebook computers and extreme portability.

A new, advanced feature of the DataMARS database is that definitions can be set to capture specific ASCII data streams and convert the raw data elements into engineering units.

A systems engineer may for example use DataMARS in conjunction with one of DDC's ARINC or MIL-STD-1553 PC interface cards to monitor and record aircraft parameters ranging from fuel flow to control surface positions.

DataSIMS-16 is a sister package to DataMARS and provides a complete environment for simulation, data acquisition and display of real time data.

Using DataSIMS-16 means that the avionics engineer can post-analyse stored data and generate reports.

It performs automatic online simulation of dynamic engineering units and the simulated data can be defined in terms of waveforms, constants and formulae to create complex simulation scenarios.

As with DataMARS the package works with many of DDC's MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC cards and terminals.
