DEK is expanding its presence in China with the opening of a new process characterisation laboratory in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province The new 500m2 DEK Process Support Products (PSP) lab mirrors DEK process activities already operating in other parts of the world and is a direct response to the needs of its customers

Feedback from applications and process engineers in the field over the last few years showed that DEK's customers needed to know that they were achieving the best possible performance from their equipment and processes.

"In rapidly developing markets like China it is essential that our customers have immediate access to our process engineers and their skills and knowledge", said Rich Heimsch, President of DEK International "It's no good simply selling a machine and dropping it off at the factory gates.

The transition from hardware provider to process enabler, that started intuitively a number of years ago, is now fundamental to our business strategy.

Wherever we go, we ensure that our customers can rely on our skills and expertise to undertake effective process audits and productivity improvements".

Further commitment to the delivery of a complete and optimised process is demonstrated by the opening of DEK's newest laser stencil manufacturing facility, also in Suzhou.

This latest addition to DEK's global stencil business provides it's growing China customer base with immediate availability of state of the art stencil technology, and complements the process development and applications engineering lab's ability to develop and deliver locally optimised process solutions.

"The new lab in China mirrors a facility already up and running in Singapore, and in fact extends DEK's global applications engineering model into its fifth location worldwide.

This engineering model enables both the development and production replication of DEK's wide variety of high accuracy mass imaging solutions, including SMT solder interconnection, adhesives, and area array package assembly.

Combined with the new manufacturing site, DEK is now able to fully support its customers' manufacturing operations with rapid delivery of both its in depth process expertise and products, including stencils and tooling for the most advanced SMT and semiconductor packaging processes.
