Screen service provides fast delivery
Manufacturers of PV cells can combine DEK's precision screens with printers from DEK or third-party suppliers.
The two companies signed the supply and licensing agreement in June at SMT 2004 in Nuremberg.
This allows Christian Koenen to manufacture VectorGuard stencils from foil blanks supplied by DEK, and to supply its customers with VectorGuard frames.
"I am looking forward to working with Christian Koenen as the first licensee of DEK's patented VectorGuard technology", said DEK's Michael Brianda.
"With its high quality manufacturing and logistical capabilities, which we evaluated before agreeing the licence, Christian Koenen is equipped to deliver an excellent VectorGuard service and gain market advantage through the performance and turnaround advantages of this technology".
Explaining that DEK made a careful assessment of Christian Koenen's ability to support the technology fully, he added: "Christian Koenen is one of the leading stencil manufacturers in Europe, and a company with whom we at DEK are very happy to work to deliver the advantages of VectorGuard to customers".
The VectorGuard stencil system was introduced in 2003, and enhances user-friendliness, handling, storage and turnaround time for users of frame-mount stencils.
The extruded aluminium safety edges and plastic corner pieces of each stencil are easy to remove for recycling, making VectorGuard an environmentally friendly solution.
They are also easy to mount and dismount from the new VectorGuard frame without using special equipment.
During the signing at SMT 2004, DEK's Managing Director John Hartner added: "Today's announcement continues DEK's policy of sharing its leading-edge technologies with the market wherever possible.
We have successfully licensed a number of these, including PumpPrinting, ProFlow and selected DEK software products, to competitors and independent specialists worldwide".
"Our objective is to maximise access for end users to technologies that significantly enhance the quality and capabilities of screen printing and mass imaging".
