Software boosts screen printer uptime
New machine interfaces to NPI and MES software tools from Aegis Industrial Software will allow engineers using DEK screen printing platforms to maximise machine uptime.
DEK has completed development of machine interfaces to NPI and MES software tools from Aegis Industrial Software Corp, allowing manufacturing and process engineers using DEK screen printing platforms to maximise machine uptime, improve process monitoring and reduce operator mean time to assist (MTTA) from within the Aegis system DEK screen printing platforms are now able to communicate using the Aegis xLink protocol, allowing users of Aegis' system to reduce machine programming time for through-hole and surface mount production, inspection, and process machine interfaces using CircuitCAM, and to benefit from browser-based remote monitoring using iMonitor

Screen service provides fast delivery
Manufacturers of PV cells can combine DEK's precision screens with printers from DEK or third-party suppliers.
The two utilities are part of Aegis' software for managing manufacturing information, which encompasses all manufacturing activities from new product introduction (NPI) to monitoring and optimising production.
"By working with Aegis to add new interfaces based on xLink technology to our machines' existing SECS/GEM interfaces, we have ensured that DEK platforms are compatible with all major computer aided manufacturing software suites", said Dick Johnson, Software Manager, DEK.
"Line level integrators now have greater freedom to realise the performance and reliability advantages of DEK equipment in new lines, whether they intend to base communications on the IPC2501 standard upon which xLink is based, or SECS/GEM".
CircuitCAM allows manufacturing and process engineers to quickly create machine programs from CAD design information, working offline to maximise machine uptime.
CircuitCAM also enables generation of rich process routing, visual assembly documentation and reports from the input CAD information.
Adding machine program generation and optimisation interfaces for DEK screen printing platforms has extended CircuitCAM's appeal as a line-level system for the large numbers of installed assembly lines that use DEK preplacement equipment.
iMonitor collects, analyses and archives real time data from the screen printer, as well as downstream assembly and test equipment, leveraging Aegis xLink technology and IPC CAMX factory data standards.
This information may then be used to improve quality and throughput, detect and react to problems before they escalate, analyse and prioritise problems for optimal corrective action, and to inform continuous improvement activities.
