Deutsch has won a contract to supply the prestigious V-22 Osprey programme The company will supply a suite of 59 connectors per shipset using its filter technology

"This contract is the start of a long-term partnership for us", says Business Manager for Filters, David Rodwell.

"Bell Helicopter came to us because of our expertise in the field of filter technology, they are impressed by our in-house production and lab facilities and can see that we are able to produce the right connection solution to fit their needs".

The V-22 Osprey is a highly survivable, low maintenance, tactical transport, combat assault aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover and vertical landing qualities of a helicopter with the long-range, fuel efficiency and speed of a turboprop aircraft.

It is being supplied to the US Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy and offers significant advantages over current helicopter combat capability.

The programme is currently at a critical stage of development with the first production MV-22 (Aircraft 21) resuming flight operations on 7th September at Bell Helicopter's Tiltrotor assembly centre in Amarillo, Texas.

Deutsch has a long pedigree in the field of filter technology connection solutions.

The company supplies filter connector solutions to many military and civil aerospace manufacturers to protect electronic components from interference.

The company's dedicated EMC group can assure a high level of service from the original design concept through to production.

Deutsch filtered products are available using planar or surface mount technologies in C, LC, PI, T or extended PI configurations to achieve EMI/RFI suppression, and using TVS diodes to achieve EMP/Transient protection.

By locating the filter elements within the shell of the connector, they are situated in the best position to ensure segregation of the electrically "noisy" and "clean" areas of a system.

The low impedance ground plane within the connector means that RFI windows are negligible and maximum system isolation is ensured by the continuity of the equipment screening.

Filter connectors are available to intermate with MIL-C-38999, MIL-C-26482, MIL-C-83723, ARINC 600 and other standard specifications in environmental, composite or hermetic versions.

This ability to interchange with industry standard product ranges provides the engineer with the flexibility to "design in" at the product definition stage or retrofit during equipment upgrade.

Filtered in line adapters, multiway bulkhead feedthroughs and customer-defined styles are also available to satisfy the wide range of connectors used in demanding military and aerospace applications.
